Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-Time Only)
Contract Review: February 2026 (before half term)
Day Rate: £90–£100 per day (pro-rata, dependent on experience)

A nurturing, forward-thinking primary school in Bedford is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant Specialist to join their team immediately. This full-time, fixed-term role is perfect for someone who brings patience, resilience, and the skillset to support pupils with a wide range of needs - including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and challenging behaviour.

You’ll be working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and pastoral team to ensure every child feels understood, supported, and empowered to succeed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with diverse SEN needs
  • Implementing personalised strategies to support communication, regulation, and engagement
  • Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour using de-escalation and positive behaviour approaches
  • Adapting learning activities to ensure accessibility and progress
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to track goals and celebrate progress
  • Upholding safeguarding and wellbeing practices with consistency and care

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting pupils with a wide range of SEN, particularly SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Ideally holds relevant SEN or behaviour support qualifications (Team Teach, MAPA, Autism training etc.)
  • Confident using de-escalation strategies and behaviour support plans
  • Warm, calm, patient, and able to build trust quickly
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset
  • Committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and helping pupils achieve their very best

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
