SEN Support Assistant role in Knaresborough

• Prior experience in an education, health or care setting

• Excellent communication skills and the desire to improve learning experiences for those with additional needs in a specialist setting

• Possession of or commitment to complete Moving and Handling training

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist SEN School in Knaresborough who are seeking an experienced Sensory Support Assistant to join their team.

The school caters for pupils aged 3-19 with complex physical and sensory impairments. It will be your role to support pupils to access a highly bespoke and tailored curriculum. You must have experience of supporting young people or adults with physical disabilities and/or additional needs. You will be comfortable providing personal care and ideally will possess a Moving and Handling certificate (although this training can be provided).

You will be required to liaise with a multi disciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and teaching staff. You may also be required to support these colleagues in implementing specific therapy and educational programmes, so an understanding of person centred Educational, Health and Care Plans is essential. You will be able to adapt resources to meet specific pupil needs and have the ability to effectively and accurately monitor and record development in these programmes.

You may also be required to work across multiple sites, so a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is also essential.
