SEN Support Assistant - Leeds

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a Primary School in Leeds (LS8), to help support with their staffing requirements. They have recently received details of a pupil who will be joining their Year 2 class after the February half-term due to relocation purposes. The pupil is sightly behind the national average and well below their target level, to prevent the pupil from falling further behind during their move and to help them settle in their new class, the school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work 1-1 with the pupil from February.  The child also has Global Developmental Delay and struggles with socialising, therefore you will be required to work with the child and help promote inclusion and social interactions. 

You will be required to support the pupil in areas of reading, writing and maths initially. Once the pupil has caught up in these areas you will be required to support them in other areas, while also catering to the child's Educational Health Care Plan. 

Role Requirements:

- Level 3 or higher qualification 
- At least 6 months experience working in a school or other childcare setting
- Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs
- Ability to work off your own initiative and be proactive in supporting the class teacher 
- Be available 5 days a week and open to long term work in a primary school 
- Be able to provide 2 graded references from your most recent employment 
- Hold and advanced Child Only DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
