SEN Support Assistant full time - Batley

1-2-1 SEN Support assistant required at a Primary School in Kirklees / Batley for a full-time role working with a child in Year 6 with Autism and Behavioural issues. The child's usual 1-2-1 support has had to resign due to personal circumstances and the school are now looking for someone to start as soon as possible until July 2021. You will be supporting the child in Year 6 for the rest of the academic year until the child moves to Secondary School. There may also be an opportunity for you to move across with the child to High School. The child has severe Autism and is currently working at a Year 1 level in school. The child struggles socially and c an sometimes display challenging behaviour. 

What is required from you

  • Teaching Assistant qualification, educational based degree or at least 6 months experience working with children
  • Experience working with children who display challenging behaviour
  • Experienced working with children with Autism
  • Able to hold student attention and focus with excellent communication skills
  • Can provide 2 references which can comment on your ability to work with children
  • Have a calm, nurturing approach with clear expectations
  • Be confident building positive relationships with pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them progress both socially and academically
  • Team Teach qualification (not essential but would be an advantage)

  • Weekly Pay up to GBP425 (depending on experience)

  • Feel valued and welcomed
  • Work with the loveliest pupils, who often become attached to their teachers and assistants (so you must be available for the long term)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
