SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are working with a specialist school in the Stockport area to recruit an SEMH/SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role with a January 2026 start date.
The role would be focused on supporting students aged 11-18 years with social, emotional and mental health needs, communication difficulties and mild learning difficulties. The school also caters to children with a variety of other conditions, ensuring each pupil receives recognition, respect and is unique.
The school is pro-active in ensuring maximum quality of care to its students. Maintaining an innovative and reflective approach, they aim to do the best for every young person.
The ideal SEMH/SEN Teaching Assistant MUST have:
- Experience of working with SEMH, including supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges
- Availability to work 08:30-16:00
It would also be beneficial for applicants to have:
- Experience in supporting young people in a school or care environment within the UK
- Confidence in supporting instances of challenging behaviour
- A positive, nurturing and proactive attitude.

The role is subject to standard vetting checks including:
- References for employment within the last two years
- Safeguarding training
- DBS on the Update Service
There is no option for part time roles. Due to the nature of placements, those not currently residing in the UK are unable to be put forward for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
