SEN School Therapist (with Teaching Support Responsibilities)

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and student-centred SEN School Therapist who can also provide targeted teaching support within our specialist setting. This unique role is ideal for someone passionate about therapeutic work, emotional wellbeing, and supporting students with diverse needs in both clinical and classroom environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 therapeutic support for students with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, and learning difficulties

  • Deliver small-group wellbeing, regulation, and social-skills interventions

  • Support teaching staff by helping implement personalised strategies, sensory plans, and therapeutic approaches in the classroom

  • Work with pupils to build emotional regulation, communication, confidence, and resilience

  • Collaborate closely with the SENCO, teachers, TAs, and external professionals to ensure consistent, holistic support

  • Observe pupils, record progress, and identify areas for therapeutic or educational intervention

  • Support positive behaviour strategies using trauma-informed, child-centred practice

  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities with professionalism, care, and accuracy

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified therapist/counsellor (BACP/UKCP/NCS or equivalent)

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND

  • Strong understanding of emotional regulation, sensory needs, and developmental differences

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build safe, trusting relationships

  • Calm, resilient, flexible, and solution-focused attitude

  • Confidence working in both therapeutic and educational settings

  • A collaborative approach and a genuine commitment to inclusion

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
