Graduate Teaching Assistant – SEN | Birmingham

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants to work in a purpose-built SEN school in North Birmingham, supporting pupils with EHCPs, including ASD, SEMH, and PMLD.

This full-time, term-time role is ideal for graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in special educational needs (SEN) and for those considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, social care, or youth work.

Job Details

  • Pay: £420–£445 per week (paid weekly)

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

  • Contract: Full-time, term-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group SEN support

  • Support pupils with autism, social, emotional, and complex needs

  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and individual learning plans

  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and inclusion

  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Graduate in any subject (Psychology, Education, Sociology, Sports Science, or related fields preferred)

  • Genuine interest in working with children with special educational needs

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Previous experience with children or SEN is beneficial but not essential

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
