We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs within a primary setting. This rewarding role involves working closely with children with ADHD, ASD, and social, emotional, and behavioural needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and emotionally.

You will work in partnership with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals to deliver personalised support that makes a meaningful difference every day.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum.

  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.

  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.

  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement.

  • Foster independence, resilience, and self-confidence through consistent encouragement and structured support.

  • Monitor and record progress, sharing observations with teachers and the SENCO.

  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development, helping them build positive relationships.

  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.

 

About You

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting.

  • Strong understanding of supporting pupils with ADHD, ASD, SEMH, or similar additional needs.

  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach with excellent behaviour management skills.

  • Confident in adapting support strategies to meet changing needs.

  • A strong communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

  • Committed to continuous professional development and learning new strategies to support SEN pupils.

  • Passionate about inclusion and dedicated to helping every child succeed.
