SEN Personal Care Support Worker – Bolton

Full-time | Monday–Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm
Start: ASAP

Teaching Personnel are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Personal Care Support Worker to join one of our partnered specialist schools in the Bolton area. The school supports pupils aged 4–18 with a wide range of complex needs, including ASC, SLD, PMLD, communication difficulties, sensory needs, physical disabilities, and medical or personal care requirements.

This is a fulfilling role within a well-resourced, supportive SEN environment. You will be working closely with staff to provide personal care, emotional support, and access to learning for young people who require additional assistance throughout the school day.


About the Role

  • Full-time, ongoing position
  • Hours: 9:00am–3:00pm
  • Supporting pupils with complex SEN needs across the school
  • Working alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Training provided through Teaching Personnel and the school

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care including toileting, changing, feeding, and hygiene support.
  • Assist pupils with mobility, including hoisting, wheelchair use, and physical support (training provided).
  • Support pupils in accessing learning activities, sensory sessions, and therapy interventions.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, promoting independence and wellbeing.
  • Follow individual learning plans, EHCPs, and behaviour support strategies.
  • Use communication aids (PECs, symbols, visuals) as needed — full training available.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing environment and adhere to safeguarding procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience in a care-based role is essential (e.g., residential care, domiciliary care, youth care, personal assistant roles).
  • Experience working with children or young people in any capacity.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient nature.
  • Comfortable providing personal and intimate care.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • An enhanced chiild and adult DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
  • No prior school experience required.
