Are you a passionate, proactive, and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking to make a genuine difference?
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist SEN school in the Salford area that supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, ASC, SLD, speech and language communication needs, and sensory processing difficulties. The school are seeking an experienced HLTA to join their dedicated team full time.


⭐ About the Role

As an HLTA in this specialist provision, you will play a vital part in supporting teaching, learning, and pupil development across the school. Responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering high‑quality, pre‑planned learning activities across primary or secondary SEN classes.
  • Leading small‑group sessions and targeted interventions designed around communication, sensory regulation, and developmental learning.
  • Supporting pupils with complex learning needs, ensuring personalised approaches to engagement and communication.
  • Working collaboratively with Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and support staff.
  • Managing behaviour using positive, trauma‑informed strategies.
  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with PMLD or medical needs, which may include elements of personal care.
  • Using specialist approaches such as sensory integration, visual supports, PECS, or Makaton (training provided if required).

✔️ Requirements

To be considered for this HLTA role, you must have:

  • HLTA qualification or relevant teaching support experience in a school setting.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (PMLD, ASC, SLD or similar).
  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A valid, enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • The ability to commit to a full‑time, Monday–Friday position.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
