Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with complex Special Educational Needs? Teaching Personnel are looking for a dedicated, patient and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join a specialist SEN school in the Trafford area. This setting supports pupils with a wide range of complex needs, and we are looking for someone who can offer emotional, behavioural and wellbeing support to help pupils thrive.

About the School

You will be joining a welcoming and highly supportive SEN secondary provision catering for pupils with a range of complex needs, including:

• PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)
• SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties)
• Sensory processing challenges
• Communication and interaction needs
• Physical disabilities and medical needs

The school places a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, individualised care, and building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle to regulate and express their emotions.

Your Role

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will:

• Provide consistent emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.
• Build trusted relationships with pupils to promote confidence, independence and wellbeing.
• Support pupils with regulating their emotions, managing anxiety or distress, and maintaining positive engagement in learning.
• Work closely with teaching staff, therapists and the wider pastoral team to implement personalised support strategies.
• Help create a calm, safe and nurturing environment that meets sensory and communication needs.
• Support with daily routines, classroom transitions and specialist interventions.
• Encourage positive behaviour and celebrate small but meaningful progress.

What We’re Looking For

We would love to hear from you if you have:

• Experience working with SEN, ideally in a school, care or youth setting.
• An understanding of complex needs such as PMLD, SLD or sensory challenges.
• A proactive, resilient and compassionate approach.
• The ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel).
