About the Opportunity

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a number of mainstream secondary schools across the Wirral to recruit motivated and dependable Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the September 2026 academic year.

Schools are seeking both full-time and part-time support staff to work on a long-term basis, with many roles offering a clear pathway into permanent employment.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to individuals looking to gain hands-on school experience, especially those considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or pastoral support.


Your Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and students to enhance the learning experience and provide targeted support where needed.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Supporting pupils within lessons across a variety of subjects at Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Providing targeted 1:1 or small group support to students who require additional help
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Supporting students with additional needs, including SEN and behavioural challenges
  • Encouraging student participation, focus, and confidence
  • Helping to manage behaviour in line with school expectations
  • Contributing to the overall wellbeing and progress of pupils

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are enthusiastic about working with young people and keen to develop a career within education.

Particularly desirable candidates include:

  • Graduates with a Psychology background
  • Individuals with previous childcare experience (e.g., nurseries, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care settings)

You should also have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Confidence working with secondary-aged students
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved in school life

Ideal for:

  • Graduates exploring careers in teaching, educational psychology, or SEN support
  • Individuals with care or youth work backgrounds transitioning into education
  • Existing Teaching Assistants looking for new opportunities in the Wirral area

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
