SEN Learning Support Assistant
Job description
An inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant to join its supportive and dynamic team.

Role Overview:
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

Work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to implement tailored support plans and differentiated learning strategies.

Help to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and resilience.

Support students in both mainstream classroom settings and small group interventions.
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with special educational needs (school-based experience is desirable but not essential).

Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.

Is able to build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff alike.

Holds a valid DBS certificate on the Update Service (or is willing to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
