SEN Learning Support Assistant

An inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant to join its supportive and dynamic team.

Role Overview:
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

• Work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to implement tailored support plans and differentiated learning strategies.

• Help to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and resilience.

• Support students in both mainstream classroom settings and small group interventions.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with special educational needs (school-based experience is desirable but not essential).

• Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.

• Is able to build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff alike.

• Holds a valid DBS certificate on the Update Service (or is willing to apply for one).
