This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) in a supportive school environment.

We are recruiting passionate and enthusiastic Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistants to work in a range of outstanding SEN schools and alternative provisions across North Birmingham. These roles are ideal for graduates considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, therapy, or social care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with a variety of SEN including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties

• Help pupils engage in learning activities, adapt tasks, and build social/emotional confidence

• Support class teachers in delivering tailored lessons in line with students’ EHCPs

• Assist with personal care or behaviour support plans where required

• Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and therapists to ensure consistent student progress

Requirements:

• A degree in Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field

• A genuine interest in supporting children with additional learning needs

• Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential

• Ability to commit to full-time, term-time hours (Monday–Friday, approx. 8:30am–4:00pm)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
