SEN Teaching Assistants needed in a OUTSTANDING school in South West London

  • Monday-Friday(8:30-4pm)

A large primary special needs school in the Wimbledon area who area a forward thinking and innovative school that is committed to providing an outstanding education for children with a wide range of learning needs is seeking to appoint 2 X Learning Support Assistants to start in September in a long term full time role.

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant; you will work as a member of a class team as well as part of the wider school team. The school provide a safe and healthy environment and as the Learning Support Assistant you will support children’s learning work under the direction of the Teacher and the Senior Teaching Assistant and be involved in; providing personal and intimate care, managing challenging behaviour and actively participating in physical activities such as swimming and PE.

The school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils attending the school.

The ideal SEN Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant should have the following;

• Motivation to work with children and young people

• Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and relate to both support staff, teaching staff and a range of other professionals

• Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people

• Ability to contribute towards written observations and records of individual progress

• Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours; and attitudes to the use of authority and maintaining discipline

• Confident in the swimming pool and able to support children in weekly sessions
