£120 - £150 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Fully Qualified Teacher required as soon as possible to work in primary SEN school near Welling!

  • £120 - £150 per day dependent on experience
  • Full time position, working in a key stage 2 class of 8 children with non-verbal autism

An opportunity has arisen for a Fully Qualified Teacher to join this large SEN school for children with autism and other moderate learning difficulties. The school building is a new build, boasting dark and light sensory rooms, a large sensory garden, a swimming pool for hydrotherapy, trampolines for rebound therapy, soft play spaces, calm down areas and individual work stations for each child.

  • You will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering lessons that meet the performance descriptors of the P scales
  • You must be able to assess and accurately record the progress that the students are making
  • You must be able to encourage students in developing their own independence, social skills and communication
  • You will work collaboratively with 3 teaching assistants, and must be confident to direct them as necessary in supporting the children daily
  • You will take part in hydrotherapy - entering the swimming pool once a week with the students and other staff members

Previous experience of teaching children with SEN is essential, and knowledge of PECs or Makaton is strongly desirable. The school is looking for someone who is proactive and ready to hit the ground running. You will have a supportive SLT and the 3 class teaching assistants will help you to get to know the children and their needs very quickly.

A trial day is requested by the school, in consideration for this role. You will be expected to spend plenty of time in the classroom, interacting with the children, leading a small activity and liaising with the other staff members. You will also be given a formal sit down interview where you may discuss the role in depth with the SLT.

To apply for this role you must be registered with Teaching Personnel - contact Louise using the telephone number or email address provided to start this process now!
