SEMH Tutor – Thatcham (Primary & Secondary)
Location: Thatcham (in-person tutoring)
Subjects: Maths & English (Primary and Secondary)
Rate: £20–£30 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Part-time or full-time – flexible hours
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Tutor to provide tailored one-to-one tuition in Thatcham, supporting students with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This includes learners experiencing anxiety, low confidence, and low self-esteem, who require patient and nurturing support to re-engage with education.
This role is open to tutors with experience in either primary or secondary education, who are confident delivering Maths and English in a flexible and person-centred way.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver individualised Maths and English sessions

Assess student needs and develop bespoke schemes of work

Adapt teaching methods to support emotional wellbeing and engagement

Build strong, positive relationships with students to foster trust and motivation

Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to support student development
Requirements:
-
Experience working with students with SEMH needs (e.g. anxiety, low self-esteem)

Confident teaching Maths and English at primary and/or secondary level

Ability to assess, plan and deliver differentiated and accessible lessons

Calm, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting young people

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
