SEMH Support Assistant – Blythe Bridge – Immediate Start
Ideal for psychology graduates, care workers, youth mentors, or anyone with a passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Are you looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience—either through work or study—supporting individuals with emotional, behavioural, or additional needs?
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist school in Blythe Bridge and are looking for a compassionate and committed individual to join them as a full-time SEMH Support Assistant. You don’t need to have worked in a school before—what matters is your ability to build relationships, stay calm under pressure, and offer consistent, positive support.
About the Role:
You’ll work closely with students aged 11–16 who face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Many have additional needs such as ADHD, autism (ASD), or behavioural difficulties.
Your day-to-day duties may include:

Supporting students in the classroom, either 1:1 or in small groups

Helping young people manage their emotions and behaviour
-
Using your empathy and resilience to build trust and consistency
-
Encouraging progress in learning, confidence, and social skills

Working closely with teachers and therapists to support individual plans

Providing personal care when needed (training provided)

What You’ll Need:

Experience working or volunteering with children, young people, or vulnerable adults

A resilient and compassionate attitude

Confidence in handling challenging behaviour (training and support provided)

A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
