Job description

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a compassionate and skilled SEMH Teaching Assistant to support learners in a Secondary SEMH provision in Salford.


Role Overview:

  • Provide tailored, one-to-one and small group support for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs

  • Assist with behaviour management and support positive pupil engagement

  • Help deliver personalised learning activities and support access to the curriculum

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and behaviour teams to implement individual education and behaviour plans

  • Support students’ emotional wellbeing and development of social skills

  • Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment


Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs in education or alternative provision

  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and SEMH strategies

  • Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure

  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection best practices

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
