The Opportunity
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and committed individual to join a specialist secondary school provision in Poole as a Part-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant.

This vital role involves supporting pupils aged 11 to 16 who face a range of social, emotional and mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and attachment or detachment disorders.

Your Role Will Include

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one or small group basis to help them access the curriculum

  • Assisting in managing challenging behaviour using trauma-informed strategies

  • Creating a calm and structured learning space to reduce anxiety and increase engagement

  • Encouraging personal development and emotional regulation

  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure consistent care

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly with SEN or SEMH

  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach

  • Confidence in dealing with behavioural needs in a calm and professional manner

  • Flexibility and commitment to supporting each pupil’s unique journey

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
