SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full Time

Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester 
Contract: Full time, Monday to Friday, long-term

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support within a specialist provision in Bolton. This is a full-time, long-term role starting after the Easter break, offering the opportunity to take on additional responsibility within a structured and supportive school environment.

This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA who is confident leading learning, supporting behaviour and working with pupils who require additional structure and consistency, including those with SEMH needs, Autism and associated behavioural challenges.

The Role

As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting both pupils and teaching staff across the school. You will be expected to take a proactive approach to learning and behaviour, and be confident working both independently and as part of a wider team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading small group interventions and targeted support sessions
  • Supporting the delivery of lessons across a range of subjects
  • Providing classroom cover in the absence of the teacher
  • Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Adapting learning activities to suit individual pupil needs
  • Supporting behaviour management and maintaining a structured environment
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SENCO and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have previous experience working as a HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant
  • Be confident leading sessions and managing a classroom when required
  • Have strong experience supporting pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs
  • Be calm, resilient and consistent in your approach to behaviour
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Be available to work full time, Monday to Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
