Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant Secondary
Location: Birmingham

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves working 1:1 and in small groups with students who may display challenging behaviour, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, or difficulties engaging with learning.You will play a vital role in helping students develop emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and confidence, while supporting their access to the secondary curriculum. Working closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, behaviour leads, and teaching staff, you will provide consistent, tailored support aligned with EHCP targets and behaviour support plans.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group SEMH support throughout the school day.

Support students to manage emotions, behaviour, and engagement in lessons.

Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional safety and self-esteem.

Implement behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.

Support access to learning through structured and personalised approaches.

Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
