Are you a compassionate and experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant, eager to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties?
Teaching Personnel, a leading education recruitment agency, is actively seeking a friendly teaching assistant to join one of our fantastic SEMH schools.
About The School:
Our partner secondary school feel passionate about building and guiding students to be independent learners. Each student has their own personalised learning plan, setting them up to succeed and achieve their own targets. The students are supported through pastoral care and behaviour management. The schools focus on supporting students’ mental wellbeing, communication, social and emotional skills and life skills. They work in a ‘family group’ structure, where children work within group sizes that they feel comfortable in, and each group will have a designated base to work within. The school have successful strategies for supporting their students and staff are supported throughout. The school are rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
As a valued member of the school’s team, you will be supported throughout your time there. You will have access to many methods, and the children you will be supporting will already have plans in place for you to follow.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-on-one support to students with SEMH.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students where they feel safe.
- Assisting with classroom activities and individualised learning plans.
- Implementing strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaborating with teachers and fellow support staff to foster a positive environment.
- Promoting the well-being, confidence and inclusion of all students.
We welcome individuals who possess:
- Previous experience in support work, supporting students or young adults, or family members with SEN.
- An Understanding of SEN and SEMH.
- Compassion, patience, and a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Adaptability and resilience to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Passionate about all students achieving their potential, by being provided the correct care and support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
