Science Technician - North Manchester
Are you a recent Science graduate looking to work as a technician within secondary schools?
Due to a gap in the department, our partner school based in North Manchester are seeking to appoint a Science Technician to begin in the new academic year. Initially on a temporary contract as an introduction to the role, there is an opportunity for the successful candidate to stay within the department on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent Science graduate to find their first laboratory related role, or for an experienced Science Technician to continue their career at a 'Good' school.
- Full time Science Technician at a 'Good' school in North Manchester
- Fixed term contract (September 2019 - July 2020)
- Opportunity for permanent contract thereafter
- Earn up to £1300 per month (dependent on experience)
- Experience not essential
Our partner school is located in the Whitefield area of North Manchester is located a short 10 minute walk from a local Metrolink station as well as a short 5 minute drive from the M60 motorway for prospective candidates that have access to their own transport. This Ofsted rated 'Good' secondary school has fewer than 900 students and Ofsted stated that students 'are making consistently strong progress across the curriculum and throughout the school.' With good facilities throughout the Science department and the rest of the school, pupils have everything in place to set them up for a successful future.

As a Science Technician at our partner school, responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out risk assessments for practical and technical activities
- Preparing necessary solutions and equipment for practical experiments
- Maintaining, repairing and taking inventory of apparatus
- Liaising with staff over equipment and safety issues
- Running trials of experiments and demonstrations
- Supporting the overall work of the Science Department
