Due to a restructuring in our client schools Science department, there is an urgent need for a Science teacher to join them on a part time basis, teaching Science at Key Stage 3 for the remainder of this academic year.
- Monday to Wednesday timetable, teaching General Science at Key Stage 3
- Reduced responsibility with work schemes in place for incoming Science teacher
- Ofsted "Good" secondary which regularly achieves above national average at GCSE
Our client is smaller than most secondary schools, but is heavily oversubscribed across 11 - 18 due to the continued success. The school serves the local Catholic and Christian parishes of Heywood, and is a 10 minute walk from the town centre. The majority of students enrol are of white-British heritage with less than average students from minority ethnic backgrounds, though this is rising due to an inclusive education policy. The school regular exceeds the national average for attainment and have a Progress 8 score above the minimum expectancies.
The post will entail working with an experienced and talented Science department for the remainder of this academic year, delivering General Science to Years 7, 8 and 9 with the potential to move in to the next academic year as a permanent member of staff.
The ideal Science teacher will have;
- UK QTS, with a secondary teacher training programme specialising in Science
- A willingness to contribute to department responsibilities including marking completed schemes of work
- Excellent classroom management and the ability to engage able students in Science
