Science Teacher - Full Time - Swadlincote - Immediate Start

A mixed comprehensive 11-16 secondary academy situated in Swadlincote are currently seeking to appoint a full-time teacher to join their department - starting immediately.

This position is due to a current member of staff on a long term sickness, and therefore is a temporary role until July 2021. The school will appoint the successful Science teacher on a temporary basis who is able to commit to the duration of this position.

"Our Science department consists of seven teachers, who work collaboratively to ensure that all students are making at least the expected progress within History. The successful teacher will be joining a successful team, will have their own classroom and will be supported throughout departmental meetings and planning sessions." Head of Humanities.

The school have requested that the incoming teacher has experience planning, delivering and assessing differentiated work across Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four, and is willing to partake in departmental responsibilities for planning, marking and attending meetings.

The Academy

The school gets very good exam results for Derbyshire at GCSE, with very high results in the region and the highest between the three local schools in Swadlincote. As of 2017, 69% of students achieved grade 4+ (previously grade C and above) at GCSE for both English and Maths. While 6% of students achieving the highest grade 9 (previously grade A**)

  • "Requires Improvement" Ofsted overall; 'Good' Leadership and Management and Behaviour and Safety of Pupils
  • "Students behave well and are keen to learn. They are polite, friendly and courteous and get on well with each other"
