Science Teacher- Secondary School- Leeds

Salary: MPS

Contract type: Full Time / Part Time

Contract term: Supply

Closing date: March 2021

Start date: March 2021

Suitable for NQTs: Yes

We are seeking to appoint a permanent, full time Teacher of Science in LS16, Leeds. The successful candidate will be required to teach Science up to KS4.

First and foremost, we require a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students. We are also seeking to appoint somebody with a good sense of humour and who enjoys working in a team. These are hugely important qualities in terms of collaborative working, but also in getting the very best out of the students.

A strong commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school is essential.

Subject knowledge is important, as is an up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in Science. The successful candidate will thoroughly enjoy teaching their subject and understand the importance of Science in contributing to the students’ wider development.

In return, the school offer an outstanding learning environment, working with students who are typically above national average attainment at start point in Year 7. The Science department is among the strongest in Leeds both in terms of attainment at the end of Key Stage 4 but also in terms of the progress that students make.

The staff body are very experienced and they have a highly committed team who always ‘go the extra mile’ for the school and community. All staff are expected to contribute to the development of new resources and to work collaboratively with others. The Secondary School also offer excellent professional development opportunities and a wide range of facilities. This will prepare the successful candidate for further leadership as well as developing subject knowledge and pedagogy.

The school has recently achieved confirmation that school remains ‘Good’ following a Section 8 Ofsted Inspection. They consider many aspects of their provision to be excellent and they are now working to securing even further improvements at the school.

Standards of behaviour are good but are still progressing also. This is achieved because of a very strong team work ethic in pastoral management, but also they do not tolerate poor choices without proportionate consequences. As a new member of staff, you will find the school to be an extremely welcoming environment to teach in.

Please apply for the position by clicking the link below or send a recent CV with a full recent 6 year history (with no gaps) to Brian from the Leeds Bradford Secondary Branch

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
