Science Graduate

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to recruit a Science Graduate in light of a number of Graduate Teaching Assistant positions that we have available within our partnered Catholic High Schools in Wigan.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate of Science to join an excellent Catholic High School in Wigan and gain key experience in preparation for a teacher training course in the future.

The school wish to recruit for this position as a matter of urgency and are looking to hold interviews at the beginning of March.

  • Science Graduate - Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Full-time position supporting the schools Science department
  • Working within a supportive secondary school in Wigan
  • Opportunity to gain access to a teacher training programme September 2019
  • Required to start in March 2019

In order to be considered for this role you must hold or be willing to apply for a DBS certificate and register it to the update service.

It is not essential for the incoming Graduate Teaching Assistant to be of Catholic faith however it is important that the incoming member of staff is respectful of the Catholic Ethos and values of the school.

Graduate Teaching Assistants roles will include;

  • Supporting the schools Science department directly
  • Providing intervention and tuition within your specialist subject
  • Covering lessons where a teacher is absent
  • Helping with planning and marking

If selected for interview you will have the opportunity to work within a number of secondary schools in Wigan that fall under the Archdiocese of Liverpool.

It will be of benefit in support of your application if you have previous experience working alongside students aged 11-16 but is by no means essential.
