School Support Worker
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
For children who aren't attending mainstream school, maintaining an education and feeling secure can feel difficult.
Here at Teaching Personnel, we work with Pupil Referral Units which provide an alternative approach to education for those students who find the rules and structure of mainstream schools hard to cope with.
These schools are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants who provide a service more similar to that of a support or youth worker, helping them to maintain behaviour, learn how to engage in activities in a healthy manner and who can offer sound advice on how the students can positively impact their future.
The students may have challenging behaviours due to social and emotional needs or mental health issues and may have come from a range of demographic backgrounds.
The right candidate for this role needs to have a non-judgemental and open approach, whilst being a source of stability and security for the students which they may not have outside of school.
Training in areas such as Team-Teach or distraction techniques are necessary for this role, and can be obtained at a discounted rate through Teaching Personnel's own CPD Academy.
If you think you can bring something to this role and make a difference, please send through your CV and a consultant will be in touch.
