A large Primary School in the North of Sheffield are currently seeking a Roma speaking Support Assistant to work 1:1 with their EAL students. This would involve completing language based activities, supporting with academic work and also providing pastoral support to help the students intregrate into the whole school community.
The majority of the students you would be working with are originally from Slovakia and of Roma extraction. A knowledge of of these languages would be preferential however is not essential as experience of working with EAL students and developing their English skills is the main focus.
The role would be to start in September and could run until the end of the academic year. There is a regular bus service from Sheffield City centre if you would be travelling on public transport.
The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic, adaptable, able to quickly build rapport with and support vulnerable students. If you are a native speaker with recent schools experience, you have worked abroad and gained a TEFL qualification, or have experience of supporting EAL students previously within the UK you could be ideally suited to this role. Pay rates are between £50-£70 per day depending on experience. All candidates are subject to full vetting and reference checks.
