Religious Studies Teacher
Job description
A high-achieving and well-respected secondary school in Christchurch, Dorset is seeking to appoint a committed and engaging Religious Studies Teacher to join their outstanding Humanities faculty from September 2025. This position is flexible and can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, making it an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and those looking for a role that accommodates a better work-life balance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Religious Studies to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to develop students' understanding of world religions, moral and ethical issues, and philosophical thinking. Key Responsibilities:

Deliver well-structured, engaging Religious Studies lessons to students in Years 7–11

Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, debate, and respectful dialogue

Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and differentiated support

Contribute to curriculum development within the department and participate in enrichment opportunities

Promote tolerance, reflection, and personal growth through a well-rounded approach to Religious Education

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)

A degree in Religious Studies, Philosophy, Theology, or a related discipline

Experience teaching Religious Studies at KS3 and KS4

A reflective, inclusive, and inspiring teaching style

Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for developing students' understanding of ethical and philosophical issues
