Job description

A high-achieving and well-respected secondary school in Christchurch, Dorset is seeking to appoint a committed and engaging Religious Studies Teacher to join their outstanding Humanities faculty from September 2025. This position is flexible and can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, making it an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and those looking for a role that accommodates a better work-life balance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Religious Studies to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to develop students' understanding of world religions, moral and ethical issues, and philosophical thinking. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver well-structured, engaging Religious Studies lessons to students in Years 7–11

  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, debate, and respectful dialogue

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and differentiated support

  • Contribute to curriculum development within the department and participate in enrichment opportunities

  • Promote tolerance, reflection, and personal growth through a well-rounded approach to Religious Education

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)

  • A degree in Religious Studies, Philosophy, Theology, or a related discipline

  • Experience teaching Religious Studies at KS3 and KS4

  • A reflective, inclusive, and inspiring teaching style

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for developing students' understanding of ethical and philosophical issues
