Teaching Personnel is looking for a resilient, empathetic, patient and confident Teaching Assistant to work in one of our secondary Pupil Referral Units in the Salford area. In this position you will be supporting students who are no longer in mainstream education with SEMH needs such as challenging behaviour, anxiety, speech, language and communication needs, mental health difficulties, attachment disorder and ADHD.  This is the perfect role for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, ensuring they can access learning effectively.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation in line with school policies.
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities, adapting resources to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to the class teacher and SENCO to inform planning and interventions.
  • Support pupils in developing social and life skills, fostering confidence and resilience both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to create a consistent and supportive environment for pupils.

Requirements

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • A valid right to work document
  • Valid Driving License – desirable but not essential
  • Safeguarding training – provided by Teaching Personnel
  • This is a full-time role so Monday – Friday availability is essential
  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
