Position: SEN & SEMH Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: From £90 per day
Hours: Full-time, long-term
Are you a recent Psychology graduate looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
Teaching Personnel are recruiting for Psychology graduates to work as SEN & SEMH Teaching Assistants in specialist schools across the Stoke, Stone and wider Staffordshire area, starting this September.
These rewarding roles are ideal for graduates considering a career in education, psychology, social work, or youth support.
What you’ll be doing:

Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs
-
Assisting with personalised learning plans and emotional regulation strategies
-
Helping students develop social skills and build emotional resilience
-
Promoting an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment
-
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
-
Taking part in training and professional development sessions
What we’re looking for:
-
A degree in Psychology or a related subject
-
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
-
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
-
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (preferred but not essential)
-
A genuine passion for supporting young people
-
Enhanced child DBS (we can help you apply for this)
To be eligible, you must:

Have the right to work in the UK
-
Provide two professional references covering the past two years
-
Hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
