Job Title: SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant – Ideal for Psychology Graduates!
Location: Opportunities in Salford, Bolton and Wigan
Salary: £84+ per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time, Term Time Only

Who Are We?
Teaching Personnel’s SEN/SEMH team works in partnership with:

Specialist SEN schools supporting students with Autism (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Speech and Language needs.

Mental health and alternative provisions working with young people who require emotional and behavioral support due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), engaging students who may have experienced trauma, exclusion, or disrupted education, helping them reintegrate into learning.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 tailored support to students with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH needs, or Learning Difficulties.
-
Assist in implementing therapeutic and learning interventions designed by specialist teams.

Support children in developing emotional regulation and social communication skills.
-
Work within specialist schools, alternative provisions, and mental health settings to create safe and structured learning environments.

Adapt strategies to suit different students, helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Gain experience in behavior management, de-escalation strategies, and communication techniques such as PECS and Makaton.
What We’re Looking For:

A degree in Psychology (or related field) with an interest in SEN, mental health, or child development.

A resilient, compassionate, and proactive mindset.

Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.

Experience (formal or voluntary) working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
