Psychology Graduate – SEN Teaching Assistant

Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Salary: Up to £95 per day

Are you a Psychology graduate with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? Are you looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in a school setting before pursuing a career in educational psychology, mental health, or teaching?

We are looking for a Psychology graduate to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Wigan as an SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people while developing key professional skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties

• Assist with the delivery of tailored learning interventions and behaviour support plans

• Support students in developing their social, emotional, and academic skills

• Work closely with the school’s SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals

• Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A degree in Psychology (or a related subject)

• A strong interest in working with children and young people with SEN

• Excellent communication, patience, and empathy

• A proactive and resilient attitude

• Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable groups (desirable but not essential)
