PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) Behavioural Teaching Assistant

If the answer is YES, then we may just have the perfect role for you within a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) as a Teaching Assistant within the Johnstown area.

The role will be highly challenging but will offer you great job satisfaction and sense of achievement.

We are very keen on speaking with individuals who have a background or interest in outdoor activities, mechanics, or engineering.

What will the role involve?

  • Provide one-on-one support to pupils with behavioural challenges.
  • Going into the community with pupils to promote independent living and life skills.
  • Getting involved in physical and practical activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised behaviour plans.
  • Encourage and motivate students to reach their academic and behavioural goals.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a valid driving licence with access to own vehicle.
  • Not be phased by high tariff behavioural difficulties.
  • Have a keen interest in physical activities and will be confident in taking pupils outside to engage them in physical activities.
  • Experience of supporting children or young adults with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent knowledge of Autism.
  • Be able to provide a safe and positive learning environment and de-escalate any threatening or aggressive behaviour.
  • Be registered (or willing to register) with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • Be registered (or willing to register) with the DBS and DBS Update Service.
