Pastoral Support – Full-Time (Temporary to Permanent)
Location: Secondary School, Burnley
Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent
A caring and ambitious secondary school in Burnley is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Progress Mentor to join their team on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis, starting from Monday 3rd November 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about student wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress to take on a key pastoral leadership role within the school.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the pastoral care and academic support for a specific year group
-
Monitor and support student behaviour, attendance, and achievement
-
Be the first point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding pastoral matters
-
Work closely with teaching staff, safeguarding leads, and SLT to ensure a supportive environment for all students

Organise and lead year group assemblies and interventions as needed
Candidate Requirements:
-
Experience working in a pastoral or behavioural support role within a school setting
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-
A calm, consistent, and proactive approach to supporting young people
-
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
-
A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
-
Previous experience as a Head of Year or in a similar leadership role is desirable, but strong candidates with relevant pastoral experience will be considered

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
