Primary Teaching Assistant

Due to schools receiving additional funding to support pupils catch up following school closures, we are currently looking for a number of Teaching Assistants to support a Primary school based in Barry. You will ideally be a Teaching Assistant who has the ability to maintain a calm and patient atmosphere and have the skills to support behaviour management. You will need to be pro-active and engaging with the children as this will allow for progress amongst pupils within the class. You will be working with a variety of children on a 1:1 level and in small groups.

The role will start in May and be full time until the end of the academic year.

What we are looking for -

• Experience of working with children (within a school setting, coaching, volunteering, childcare)
• Someone who is comfortable dealing with challenging behaviour
• Strong team player and also has the ability to work off their own initiative

You will be expected to:

• Establish rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, their families and their carers
• Encourage the development of self-confidence, sensitivity and respect for others through the understanding of individual rights and responsibilities
• Provide a curriculum that is accessible and relevant to the needs of each individual pupil through a range of activities and opportunities which ensure that learning is fun
• Encourage self-advocacy and independence
• Generate attitudes of respect and understanding towards all individuals irrespective of background
• Give emphasis to the quality of relationships between all people in the school.
• Be competent working with all ages and abilities

The minimum pay rate is GBP10.20 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
