We have immediate start referrals for teachers able to provide face to face tuition for vulnerable pupils in Sunderland and the surrounding areas. We are looking for teachers who can support for a minimum of 10 hours per week (flexible) with a view to increasing to up to 30 hours per week.


This role is perfect for Primary qualified teachers because:

  • You can develop and provide individualised programmes for students.
  • You are experienced with working with students with SEMH challenges
  • You can deliver engaging, innovative lessons to help keep students engaged in their education.
  • You are able to offer emotional support to vulnerable children where required, acting as a positive role model.
  • You are committed to the education of this vulnerable young person.
  • You have experience teaching across the whole curriculum.

About the role:

  • This role involves working with KS3 pupils who are working below age related expectations at a KS2 level.
  • The pupils are not currently attending school and require fully qualified teachers to deliver 1:1 sessions in the home environment.
  • Pupils may be out of school for health reasons, mental health challenges, as a result of being a looked after child, SEN needs or temporary exclusion.
  • The average tuition referral is 10 hours per week, ideally worked 2 hours per day Monday - Friday. Work is flexible and you could take on as many or as few referrals as is suitable for you.
