Primary SEND Teacher (Graduates, ECTs & Mainstream Teachers Welcome)

We are recruiting a passionate and adaptable Primary SEND Teacher to join a supportive specialist primary setting in Manchester, working with pupils aged 4–11 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is committed to inclusive education and wants to make a genuine difference to children who need a more personalised approach to learning.

Pupils within the setting may present with a variety of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), moderate learning difficulties, sensory processing needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils benefit from clear routines, structured learning and consistent adult support to help them access the curriculum, build confidence and develop independence.

You will be working within a highly supportive and collaborative team, alongside experienced teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, pastoral staff and external professionals, all focused on delivering the best outcomes for pupils. The school offers excellent facilities, including well-resourced classrooms, sensory and regulation spaces, intervention rooms and outdoor learning areas, creating a calm and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive.

This role is open to ECTs / newly qualified teachers, as well as mainstream primary teachers who are looking to transition into SEND. The school provides strong leadership support, ongoing SEND-focused training and a welcoming environment where staff are encouraged to develop and grow in their careers.

The school is easily accessible by public transport and the role has the opportunity to progress from temporary to permanent contract for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the primary curriculum
  • Adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs and support EHCP outcomes
  • Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
  • Use positive behaviour and inclusive strategies to support engagement and progress
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and the wider SEND team to deliver targeted support
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to support pupil development
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

Requirements

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (ECTs and new teachers encouraged to apply)
  • Mainstream teachers welcome, with full support provided to transition into SEND
  • A patient, calm and flexible approach to teaching and learning
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for inclusion and supporting children with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
