Job description

SEN Primary Teaching Assistant  

Are you an enthusiastic person who is willing to get involved in inclusive learning? Supporting the education of young people with engaging activities? This is a role ideal for someone who enjoys getting involved in the development of young people and supporting them in their educational journey. You will be based in a mainstream primary school but in their resource base.

The role requires to be competent in:

-          Providing individualised support to pupils in both a one-to-one or small group setting, assisting with various classroom activities, academic tasks

-          Fostering and developing relationships with pupils; allowing for the development of self-esteem and independence

-          Differentiating the teaching material to the students’ needs and ensuring inclusivity

-          Being a positive influence when managing student behaviour to minimise disruption and ensure behaviour is managed accordingly

-          Collaborating with SEN teachers, leadership team, parents to appropriately correspond support for students with special needs to ensure they are adequately provided for

-          Maintaining safeguarding standards according to statutory safeguarding guidance and procedures

 You will also need:

-          A enhanced DBS check subscribed to the update service

-          Recent experience in a SEN school setting or equivalent

-          GCSE Qualifications in Maths and English at least level 4

-          Strong relationship building skills with the ability to empathise and create a nurturing environment

-          Ideally a level 2 / 3 teaching qualification or be working towards this

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
