Job description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our nurturing primary schools in the Salford area that supports pupils with a range of complex needs ranging from Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning disabilities, Physical disabilities, Global development delay and communication challenges.

This role involves both general classroom support and targeted SEN interventions, working closely with the class teacher to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with complex needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, and speech & language challenges
  • Assist with classroom activities, learning tasks, and behaviour management
  • Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to deliver personalised learning plans
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external professionals
  • Adapt support in adherence to individual EHCP’s
  • Promote independence and confidence in pupils
  • Maintain a calm, proactive, and resilient approach throughout the school day

Requirements:

Enhanced DBS for Children & Adults (on the update service or willing to apply)
Minimum of 2 years of references
Safeguarding training (recent or willing to complete)
Experience supporting children with SEN and/or complex needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Calm, patient, and proactive attitude
Ability to adapt to changing needs and respond positively to challenges

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
