SEN Primary Teacher - Dartford, Kent

  • You will have a large, dedicated classroom and be supported by several SEN Teaching Assistants as well as the SENCo. The children follow a topic-based curriculum which is modified to take account of their needs.
  • The school has worked hard to make the Unit an ASD-friendly environment and you can see the results as pupils find the school and routine a low-stress environment which in turn reduces challenging behaviour.

The successful SEN Teacher will need to:

• Be able to deliver fun, energetic, lessons designed to increase and stimulate independent thought, interaction and sensory engagement.

• Be familiar with alternative communication tools such as PECS and Makaton and have a basic understanding of the cognitive behaviour therapy techniques used in the TEACCH approach to supporting autistic learners.
