PMLD Teaching Assistant Required in Sheffield

  • Require candidates who are proactive, empathetic, engaging and creative
  • Excellent CPD opportunities
  • Competitive rates of pay

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a teaching assistant who has previously worked with students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

The position is within a SEN school in Sheffield and would be a challenging but highly rewarding role. Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with PMLD is highly desirable, such as an understanding of the complexities related to this condition. The ideal candidate would have a good knowledge of teaching and behavior strategies relevant to this.

We require candidates to apply who are passionate in supporting children with PMLD to access the curriculum. An understanding and flexible nature is essential, and the school is particularly keen to have candidates who are proactive, empathetic, engaging and creative.

Candidates who are familiar with PEC’s, signing (Makaton/BSL/sign supported English) are strongly encouraged to apply as these skills will be very relevant to the role. A Team Teach qualification or relevant moving and handling experience would be a desirable addition but is not essential to this role. Teaching Personnel are also partnered with Leeds Trinity University and are able to offer a range of additional training to upskill you as an individual and broaden your knowledge and capabilities ; these including Team Teach, Introduction to Autism and Moving and Handling. Should you require further information regarding this please do not hesitate to contact me on details outlined below.

To apply for this position or require any additional information regarding PMLD, please contact your SEN Specialist Sarah Franks on 0114 241 3342 or email me on sarah.franks@teachingpersonnel.com.
