Play Worker (Special Needs School) - Hayes

Are you an experienced play worker or nursery assistant seeking full-time work in Hayes?

Do you want to develop your experience, work with a collaborative team and support children with autism?

If so, we want to hear from YOU!

I work with a special need primary school in Hayes who are looking for confident play workers or those with nursery (EYFS) experience. Applicants would need to be available full-time Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 daily to work for them on a year long contract with prospects of permanent placement within the school.

This amazing school in Hayes provides a personalised learning approach for children with autism and communication disorders. The school has EYFS, KS1 and KS2 classes with interactive and autism specific facilities and resources such as sensory room, gardens and playgrounds.

Following successful trials, applicants will be offered a year long contract with permanent contracts offered after the completion of a year. During this time the school enrols all staff on SEN specific courses such as TEACCH, Signalong and PECS free of charge to them to build experience and understanding of autism support.

What you will do daily:

  • Prioritising the safety and well-being of each child across the school (Safeguarding)
  • 1:1 or 2:1 support with daily skills and short activities in Maths, English and sciences
  • Using creative resources such as visual and sensory aids to promote inclusion in learning and social activities
  • Assessing and recording development of pupils academic, social skills and behaviours
  • Collaborating with therapists, teachers and senior leadership in order to provide the most effective support
  • Being open to supporting pupils with toilet support and nappy changing is highly beneficial

What you will need:

  • Experience as a Play Worker or in an Early Years setting
  • Confidence and interest in supporting children with autism
  • Commitment to work full-time from 8:30 - 4:30pm Monday to Friday
  • Genuine interest in furthering your understanding and experience with special needs
