Location: Swansea
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £92.95 per day (from April 2026)

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to work within Specialist Teaching Facilities (STF) across Primary School settings in Swansea. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs (ALN) and making a meaningful difference in their day-to-day school experience.

You will be supporting pupils with a range of needs, including autism spectrum conditions, communication difficulties, and complex needs. Some pupils may be non-verbal and require alternative communication methods and structured, nurturing support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within an STF setting.

• Support children with ALN, ASD, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.

• Assist pupils who may be non-verbal or have limited verbal communication, using appropriate communication strategies and visual supports.

• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development.

• Support pupils to access learning and engage with classroom activities.

• Work closely with teachers, ALN staff, and other professionals to deliver consistent and effective support.

• Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

• Assist with classroom activities, routines, and transitions throughout the school day.

• Be available for flexible or same-day cover when required.

What We Are Looking For

• A patient, calm, and empathetic individual with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

• Experience working with children or young people with ALN, SEN, ASD, or complex needs (highly desirable, but not essential).

• An understanding that behaviour is a form of communication.

• Confidence in supporting pupils with sensory needs and structured routines.

• Experience in education, care, youth work, or SEN settings is advantageous.

• A full UK driving licence and DBS (or willingness to apply for DBS)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
