Pastoral Support Worker 
Full-time | Fixed-term contract
Start date: ASAP
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Dependent on skills and experience

We are looking to appoint a committed and proactive Pastoral Support Worker (Level 3) to join our Alternative Provision team on a fixed-term basis. This is a full-time role for someone who is confident working with young people, brings energy and enthusiasm to their work, and has a flexible, solution-focused approach.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges, helping them to re-engage with learning and make positive choices.

Key Responsibilities
The post holder will:

  • Provide daily pastoral support to students facing barriers to learning

  • Promote inclusion by supporting the development of communication, social and independence skills

  • Support students to regulate behaviour and develop positive attitudes to learning

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team responding to challenging behaviour

  • Deliver structured interventions to support behaviour, attendance and social development

  • Monitor and record the impact of interventions and support strategies

  • Liaise with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure appropriate support is in place

Person Specification
We are seeking someone who can:

  • Work under direction to support pupils who require targeted help

  • Assist with supervision of pupils and contribute to effective behaviour management

  • Support and supervise pupils who are removed from their normal timetable

  • Motivate and challenge pupils while building confidence and self-esteem

  • Consistently promote positive social communication

  • Support pupils’ personal, social and emotional development

  • Encourage independence and independent learning skills

  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to support progress and outcomes

  • Undertake reasonable duties as directed to support pupil wellbeing

  • Accompany pupils on educational visits and off-site activities when required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
