Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Location: Burnley
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
We are looking for a motivated and resilient Sports Coach to work within a Secondary SEMH provision in Burnley. This role combines sports coaching with general Teaching Assistant responsibilities, supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education.
The successful candidate will have a strong presence, excellent behaviour management skills, and a passion for using sport and physical activity as a tool to positively engage young people.
Key Responsibilities:

Delivering structured sports and physical activity sessions

Supporting pupils within the classroom as a general Teaching Assistant

Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in line with school policy
-
Building positive relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
-
Working with staff to help remove barriers to learning and promote positive outcomes
Requirements:
-
Experience working with secondary-aged pupils
-
Strong behaviour management and the ability to remain calm under pressure
-
Background in sports coaching, youth work, or similar
-
Ability to engage and motivate pupils with SEMH needs
-
A proactive, consistent, and professional approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
