Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

One of the best things someone can say about their job is that it makes a positive change in a young person’s life, and that is something we can truly say about our tuition roles at Teaching Personnel!

I work with the Local Authorities, to support young people who are unable to access mainstream school. This could be for a variety of reasons such as: SEN and SEMH needs, medical reasons, if they are school refusers, or if they have challenging behaviour.

I am looking for 1:1 tutor’s in Newham, and surrounding areas who are wanting to make a positive impact on a young person’s learning; helping them to bridge gaps in their understanding, create an excellent working relationship with them, encouraging them to be confident, so that we can help them to reengage with a mainstream school setting.

Our tutors have a huge impact on young people’s learning journeys, as you can see from the most recent Alevel results:

“I just wanted to let you know that Gabrielle has achieved a B in her 'A' Level English Literature! As you can imagine, we are both so happy! I'm really glad you were able to put me in touch with her, so I was able to help her.”

And you too can make a positive difference! We have roles working with young people who are EYFS, Primary and Secondary students. Our roles predominately have a focus of supporting young people in English, Maths and Science.

Our ideal tutor

  • Confident in working with young people on a 1-2-1 basis
  • Experienced in creating their own resources and lesson plans, so that these can be tailored to the individual needs of each student you work with
  • We expect our educators to be friendly, welcoming, and patient so a great rapport can be made, so that the young people feel safe and at ease in the working environment.
  • Confident working with additional SEN and/ or SEMH needs and being able to tailor sessions to these.

Why join Teaching Personnel?

  • You will have your own personal tuition consultant, who is dedicated to finding you your perfect role!
  • We offer a competitive rate of £25 per hour.
  • Unlike other agencies, we aren’t a part of an umbrella company, which means there are no hidden fees!
  • Our roles offer flexible working hours, allowing you to choose your availability and the number of hours you wish to work each week!
  • Gain exclusive access to our CPD Academy, where you can develop your learning.
  • The chance to make a real difference in a young person’s learning journey!

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
