Nursery & Reception Teaching Assistant
Location: CF3, Cardiff
We are looking to appoint a committed and caring Teaching Assistant to support learning and development across our Nursery and Reception classes. This role is ideal for someone with experience in early years or KS1 who is passionate about helping children achieve their potential in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities

Support class teachers in preparing and delivering engaging activities that promote learning and development in line with the Foundation Phase curriculum.

Assist with day-to-day classroom management, ensuring a safe, stimulating and well-organised learning environment.

Provide one-to-one and small group support to children, including those with additional learning needs (ALN), adapting activities and approaches as required.

Help to develop children’s social skills, emotional well-being and independence through positive interactions and encouragement.

Support children with personal care routines where necessary.

Communicate effectively with teachers, colleagues and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

Demonstrate flexibility by supporting across different areas of the school if needed.
Person Specification
We are seeking someone who:

Has previous experience working in a Nursery, Reception or KS1 setting.
-
Understands the developmental needs of young children and can adapt support to meet these needs.
-
Is approachable, patient and kind, with a natural ability to build positive relationships with children.
-
Can remain calm, adaptable and proactive when faced with change or challenges.
-
Works effectively as part of a team, while also showing initiative and independence.
-
Has an interest in developing their skills further, including in supporting children with ALN.

Contract: Full-time, term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
